Developing and promoting mutual understanding between the medical and legal professions in the Greater Manchester area
Patron: His Honour Sir Rhys Davies QC
President: Dr Ingrid Whiteman
Welcome to the website of the Manchester and District Medico-Legal Society (MDMLS)
The Society was first formed in 1936 and has the aim of developing and promoting mutual understanding between the medical and legal professions in the Greater Manchester area. The Society hosts discussions, debates, and meetings of interest to the professions and pre-pandemic also arranged social events to enable relaxed interactions.
The Society holds meetings in the months of October through to March (avoiding December), and these are based at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) on a Wednesday evening. A pre-meeting meal can be ordered though the restaurant of the RNCM giving an opportunity to socialise prior to the talks.
The Covid-19 pandemic has seen the Society hold several successful meetings via Zoom, and post pandemic there may be a mix of events delivery with in-person events at the RNCM, remote platform-based talks and potentially a mixture of both that could widen access to the Society’s meetings.
